The Diet Program: Finishing, Evaluating, and Beyond

Now that you are finally on your way to finishing the diet program, it is time to ask the ultimate questions: Did I achieve my target weight? Did I accomplish all my purposes for this weight loss project? Was it a fulfilling experience to realize how many pounds I have shed after a disciplined run of eating, exercising, and preserving health? Take a look at your weight at the weighing scale and see how far you have gone! Move around; swing your hips; walk; try to notice how agile you are right now; you may recall how far you have gone from the sluggishness of your past movements.
Finishing the diet is the easiest part; you wouldn't be there if you weren't focused enough to see through the whole dieting program. However, suppose you are 3 to 4 pounds more than your target weight, and your program is still on for about a week. That last week is the high time for all sorts of temptations to come across your mind! You may be finishing; you may be eating cabbage, tomatoes, and fish all day for months; but don't reach out for that bag of sweets just yet. Giving in may lead to another, thus making you gain weight too soon, and you may be sworn off from your original goal. It's so near; just stay disciplined. Continue eating healthy foods and avoiding the unhealthy ones you have succeeded in avoiding. Continue your exercise program. Never allow a time when the urge to snap off from your weight loss regimen will intrude your mind.
After the weight loss program has ended, you finally obtained the weight and the body image you've desired. Evaluating the program is the next step. Were you successful? What did you learn? It is also the time to celebrate; after all, you've made it. Buy yourself those clothes which you really desire to wear. Also, share your experiences to others so that they will get inspired as well. Thank everyone who helped you in your path to weight loss.
Is the end of the diet really the end? Does that give you the privilege to eat wantonly and sleaze off? Of course, every end is a beginning, and that holds true for dieting as well. The key word here is - maintenance. Now that you have achieved your target weight or BMI, do something that will help you maintain that weight or BMI. See how the entire weight loss enterprise has influenced your beliefs about your weight and about yourself. Internalize the good habits you have learned, like choosing the right foods, eating at the right time, exercising well, and insert these activities into your daily lifestyle. Consider healthful living as a lifelong proposition; never falter. Remind yourself that after so long a time, you have achieved your ideal weight; you are used to it; and it will be much, much easier to maintain it.
